At the Thrivent / OWLS Banquet, held May 4, Paul Alwardt of Faith Collierville and Sharon Fryman of Immanuel were honored as Thrivent Volunteers of the Year. Mike and Vicki Grant were honored as the Thrivent Volunteers of the Year for Trinity. Beth Oberton of Immanuel and Vera Paschal of Messiah received the 2008 OWL Service Awards. Thrivent Builds with Habitat has almost reached the goal of $7,700. Many thanks to all!

Sunday, June 1st is Mid-South District Sunday. On that Sunday, a special DVD will be shown in the Sunday School classes, and information will be shared in the worship service on the exciting mission work of the 42 year-old Mid-South District.

Tuesday, June 17th, Rev. Kyle Castens of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will be at Christ Lutheran Church in Arlington, TN, 5:30 to 8 p.m. for dinner, music and discussion time for anyone considering becoming a Lutheran pastor or deaconess. For more information, phone him at 314-505-7224.

Hearts On Fire is the theme of a very special District-Wide Event scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 10th and 11th at the Hilton Hotel in east Memphis. This will be a gathering of hundreds of pastors, teachers, lay leaders and others from the 135 congregations of the Mid-South District. Please mark these dates on your calendar now, and plan to attend.
