The Church Council met on May 4th. Pastor Wiese gave an update on the ill and hospitalized. The Treasurer said we are in the black. The Financial Secretary reported that contribution statements will be distributed to members later this month. A church evacuation drill will be held in July. The Board of Evangelism’s “Dinner For Eight” program is up and running. They will take a break for June and July and resume in August. Trivia Night netted $610 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The Board of Social Ministry will sponsor a summer Clothing Drive, with concentration on men’s clothing. The Board of Hospitality will host a Bake Sale June 15. The Board of Youth reported that between Trivia Night and the Plant Sale, they have raised $150. They will help May 17 at the Hospitality Hub, and in the Downtown Churches Tour in October.
In Old Business, renovation of the Fellowship Hall is being planned; a proposal will be presented next month. A motion was made not to exceed $1,500 for kitchen renovation. The baby grand piano has not been sold as yet. A dinner celebrating Pastor Schmidt’s 40th anniversary of his ordination is planned for June 15th. Olan Mills studio will be at Trinity Sept. 5 & 6 to take pictures for Trinity’s pictorial directory.
In New Business, the Council approved the transfer of Joelle Oliver to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Dayton Ohio. Steve Zoeller, Kevin Baskette, Sue Jones, and Janet Stewart were appointed as the Fall Stewardship Campaign Committee. A motion was made and carried to remove a tree from Dorothy Martens’ yard, up to $500. The next council meeting is set for June 8th.
